Lifting of Generator in a Power Plant (HP8)
This project involved one of the most impressive heavy lifts, requiring a high level of coordination and planning. The 1000T crawler crane successfully lifted and placed the generator and other power equipment in their designated positions. The careful manoeuvring and precise lifting allowed the equipment to be safely installed in the confined space, ensuring the project was completed successfully within the required time frame.

PROJECT SCOPE
To lift 12 heavy various-sized power equipment, with the largest weighing 404T, within confined spaces between structures at the power plant.
CHALLENGES FACED
• Lifting in confined spaces with limited clearance between existing structures. • Precise maneuvering and placement of the heavy equipment within a narrow space. • Coordination between the crane operation and the installation team for accurate positioning.
SOLUTION PROVIDED
For the 404T generator, our 1000T crawler crane was used with SDWB2 configuration (main boom – 48.0m, luffer – 30.0m). The process involved lifting the generator from the hydraulic trailer and maneuvering the crane with the load towards the foundation, which was approximately 10m away to achieve the planned radius. The generator was hoisted to a height of 30m and rotated over a high-rise steel structure, then carefully lowered to approximately 15m within the narrow space between the steel structures to the foundation level. The final alignment was achieved in coordination with the installation team. This same lifting procedure was successfully followed for the remaining 11 power equipment.
